Happy New Year!

Happy New Year
Everyone!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year.  I've been enjoying time off over the holidays and perhaps too much time off from the craft room, as well.  But I'll get back to it soon.

I didn't get to post some of the cards and gifts I made before Christmas, so please don't feel obligated to look, lol!  I just wanted to preserve these in my library for future reference!

Winter Frolic
(with an added scalloped oval punch)

Jolly Holidays

Art Philosophy

Sizzix Die

And I finally made some of these cute little hand sanitizer holders.

And some hand soaps wrapped up with tags.

Thanks for stopping by.

and have a Happy New Year!

Christmas Tree Linky Party

Docerela is having a Christmas Tree Link Up Party, so I thought I'd join in.

Some of you already know my story, so I apologize for repeating it. We don't put up a green tree, artificial or live, anymore because our cat will eat the greens and get sick, and then we spend our holiday in the animal emergency room.  That happened to us a few years back, and we didn't want to experience that again--for us and certainly not for our kitty. So this has been our "alternative" tree.

Since it's a wire tree, I tried to go for a rustic, natural look.  Here's a close-up of some of the ornaments.

Go link up a photo of your tree at Docerela's Creations.  And look at all the other beautiful and green trees!  lol!

Thanks for stopping by.

Holiday Challenge

We're almost there!

The challenge this week at Die Cuttin' Divas is...
Happy Holidays

Make anything holiday related.

And here's my Happy Holidays card.

I've been wanting to make one of these wreaths since I first saw it when I started blogging three years ago!  This card is 5x7.  I embossed the red paper with a Darice brick patterned folder.  The window is cut from the Cricut Creative Cards cart.  I cut a wreath from the Jolly Holidays cart and just covered it in branches using the Martha Stewart branch punch in 2 green cardstocks. The label frame is a Spellbinders die, and the sentiment is a wooden stamp.

I love that the wreath looks so real!  Tied a double bow with the plaid ribbon, and added some gems.

Since this is the last challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas for this year, you'll have 2 weeks to link up your holiday project.  Please be sure to use a die cut and link your post back to the Die Cuttin' Divas blog.

The challenges will resume on January 7, 2014!

Ribbon from my stash

Thank You Challenge

It's Tuesday and time for another challenge

This week's challenge is...
THANK YOU.

I made this thank 'ewe' card, haha!

I used the Just Because cartridge, an oldie but a goodie.  This was the first cartridge I purchased after getting my Cricut Expression a little over 3 years ago. The bundle package I purchased included 4 cartridges, but just a few weeks later, this was the next cartridge I purchased separately.

Little hard to see, but I popped up the whole red/white mat with foam squares, embossed the sheep with Divine Swirls and the red mat with Argyle.  What do you think?

Hope you'll join the challenge this week and share your THANK YOU projects at Die Cuttin' Divas.  Be sure to use a die cut and link your post back to the DCD site.

The stitched frame, stitched banner, camera and sentiment are all products from MCT.  The cute mouse is from Create a Critter, along with the chunk of cheese.  Paper is Recollections Bold Basics.

It's a Button Challenge!

This week, the challenge at

USE BUTTONS!

I used buttons down the front of my snowman!  He is cut from the Winter Frolic cartridge.  The card is 6.5 x 5, so the snowman is cut at 5-1/2".  The background is from a Cloud 9 Design Photo Matstack of Harvest/Halloween/Christmas designs.  So I just matched up the colors with solid cardstock, and black for the shadow.  Always love shadows on images.  Ran his hat and gloves through my BigKick using the Argyle embossing folder.  The sentiment comes from BugBites Mistletoe stamp set.

We hope you'll join in the challenge this week.

You'll have one week to create your card, layout or altered project using BUTTONS.  Please be sure to use a die-cut and link your post back to the Die Cuttin' Divas blog site.  And check out the other Divas' projects for this week.

DCD's Sketch Challenge

This week, it's a SKETCH CHALLENGE

Won't you join us?

I made a Christmas card!

This image was just too cute to pass up.  It came from our sponsor, Crafty Sentiments Designs.

I used a Sizzix die for the scalloped oval, and paper from the DCWV Christmas matstack.  Kind of quick and simple, this card came together rather easy for me (for a change).  Yeah!

Here's the sketch, which I turned and slightly modified for my card.

We hope you'll join in the challenge this week.

You'll have one week to create your card, layout or altered project using the sketch shown above.  Please be sure to use a die-cut and link your post back to the Die Cuttin' Divas blog site.  And check out the other Divas' projects for this week.

Triple Play!

Here's a quick share of a card I made for a man I work with that just retired.  He and I started employment in the same month, October, 22 years ago!  Not only was he retiring, his last day of work was on Thursday, October 31, AND it was also his birthday!  How 'bout them apples?!

Here's the card I made for him.

And on the inside...

The word October came from the Happy Hauntings cartridge, and the numbers are from Plantin Schoolbook.  I liked them better than the ones on the HH cart.  The notebook edge is made with a Fiskars punch.  I had stamps for all the sentiments!  And added 2 star brads to complete the card.

Hope you like it, thanks for stopping by!

It's Fang-tastic!

Hello and welcome to Tuesday!

It's time for another challenge at

This week's challenge is...
Halloween!

I'm loving this scary (but cute) Dracula from the Happy Hauntings Cricut cartridge!  Don't you?!
I cut him at 5" for this 5x7 card.  The fence was cut at 3" and I altered it a bit to fit behind Dracula neatly.  The grass and dripping goo are edge punches.  Added some ribbon and cut the tag with jagged scissors.

The stamped sentiments are from my design team sister, Barb of Bug Bites.  This is the Magic Spells set. Check out all her fun stamps here.

I made sure to pop up Mr. Dracula for effect.

We hope you'll join in the challenge this week.

Arrr Matey!

I was asked to create a card with a pirate theme for a man that was getting married, using a photo of the man's face as the pirate.  Here's what I came up with.  What do you think?

I found this pirate ship paper in my DCWV All About Boys stack and created the plank with some kraft cardstock and a woodgrain stamp.  The man and woman pirates were found on clip art.

Sentiment on the inside, along with some hooks!

And a gift tag to go with the bottle of rum they gave him as a gift.

Use the color Brown

 Hi Everyone!

It's Tuesday and time for
another challenge at

This week's challenge is...
use brown

Here's my brown card!

Wasn't quite sure what to make at first; I kept trying to think of things that are brown. I pulled out my Love You a Latte cartridge and a light bulb went off when I saw the bag of coffee.  And I thought I remembered having that cute sentiment from a set of coffee stamps.  I did!

We hope you'll join in the challenge this week.

Here's my take on the sketch.

I made this A2 sized card using patterned papers from the Recollections Bold Basics paper pad.  The silly bird is from the Birthday Bash cartridge.  Used 2 black brads for the eyes, 3 adhesive arrows, and My Creative Time's clear stamp from Wow So Many Candles.  Popped up the bird and balloon on some foam squares.

Here's the sketch.

We hope you'll join in the challenge this week.

The silhouette, hearts, and peace symbol were cut from Cricut Groovy Times cartridge.  I fussy cut the shirt after printing the name on patterned paper.  The winged hearts is a border cut that came from the Winter Frolic cartridge.

On the inside, left, I made a pocket for a gift card.

I used Country Life for the apples which were cut at 3-1/4" for this A2 size card.  The patterned paper is from DCWV Amber Autumn.  Stitched label die from My Creative Time, and I added 3 flower button brads.  All the cardstock was from my scraps file except for the plaid paper--I took that from the matstack.

It's Teddy Bear Day!

And that's the challenge this week at Die Cuttin' Divas!

Use a Teddy Bear

I made this card for my hubby's birthday, aka Sugar Bear, using the Teddy Bears on Parade cartridge. This is the "tourist" bear without the camera and an umbrella drink because I wanted to mimic the look of the Dude in the movie, the Big Lebowski, one of my husband's favorite movies.

Ingredients:
Brown, black, silver, and cream cardstock
Oval from Art Philosophy cart
Two green papers are from my scraps
Tree pattern is DCWV Green Stack
Metal brads
Cuttlebug Diamond Plate embossing folder used on the oval
Sizzix Wild Dashes used on the green background
Foam squares to pop up the oval

In case you'd like to know...

National Teddy Bear Day takes place in the US on September 9th. Initially a US specific holiday this is increasingly being celebrated by bear lovers across the world. There appears to be no record of the origin of this holiday or why this particular date was chosen - perhaps the bears themselves know?

Teddy bears are, of course, named after US President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt. The name came about after a 1902 hunting expedition. The hunt had found no game, so at the end of the day someone brought out a baby bear and suggested that Roosevelt might like to shoot it instead. Roosevelt understandably felt that this was not exactly sporting and refused. The incident was illustrated in a newspaper cartoon entitled "Drawing the Line" - which also referred to the political situation at the time. An enterprising New York toymaker saw an opportunity and brought out a cute stuffed bear named "Teddy's Bear". The rest, as the say, is history.

We hope you'll join in the challenge this week.

You'll have one week to create your card, layout or altered project using a TEDDY BEAR.  Please be sure to use a die-cut and link your post back to the Die Cuttin' Divas blog site.
